Rebuilding a 22R Engine

The engine in the back of my truck, after purchasing the core from another member of the Toy list, Dan Merrick. I loved the deal $100 and I got a nice carb and a distributor, too. You can also see my new diamond plate tool chest, bolted in the bed.

Lifting the engine out of my truck with my new come-along. Notice the custom fit travelling stand, it was a milk crate in its former life.

One of the headbolts was tight, real tight. I had to chain the stand to my workbench and get out the breaker bar to get enough torque on the thing, it did come out OK.

Once the head was off, I could chck out the valves on the bottom of the head, with the rocker arm assembly sitting nearby.

And I could see the valve stems and camshaft on the top.

I love the engine stand. I can rotate it around to access the block from all sides. I can even point the top of the pistons at the camera.
