William,

This takes only simple hand tools and some muscle.

First, remove the air intake tube from the air flow meter and throttle
body.

The P/S belt is tensioned by an idler pulley up high, near the front of
the valve cover. It requires a 14, 17, or 19MM wrench to loosen the
locknut. With this nut loose, locate the tension adjuster screw on the
side of bracket (behind the pulley) and loosen until the belt can be
removed from the pulleys. Reverse to install but leave the tensioner
screw a little loose as the belt will tension more as the large locknut
is tightened.

For the A/C, it is about the same; a locknut and tensioner screw but the
tensioner is on the lower right of the engine compartment.

The alternator pivots on a common sliding bracket. Loosen the top bolt
on the alternator with a 12MM wrench. On the bottom of the alternator is
a 14MM bolt on the front with a nut on the rear side (close to the lower
radiator water pipe). You will need to hold the nut while you loosen the
nut. Do nut loosen these all the way, the upper bolt sets the tension.

To tension the alternator belt, I use a long 3/8" extension just above
the upper alternator mounting ear, with the end of the extension resting
on the block. It takes a while to get the right amount of tension on the
belt, hold the extension, double check the tension, and tighten the bolt
(with your third hand!), but you'll get the hang of it.

Run the engine for about ten minutes and double check all of the belts,
making adjustments if needed. It is not a bad idea to check them a week
or so later, just to assure the tension is ok.
