The last car I owned was an 86 Prelude Si - Red. The paint was terribly
faded when I bought it from the dealer 9yrs old. I used "Body Scrub" by
Meguires, to take all the oxidized paint off. This product works better
than any other I've ever used to remove oxidation, some scrap marks, and
paint from other cars (door dings).
As far as keeping up RED paint, the best I ever found was Zymol polish,
with Meguires "Professional" line of waxes. It was mostly the Zymol
polish that kept the RED paint dark and smooth, but you MUST put a coat
of wax over the polish within hours or the polish develops a terrible
haze. (it can be buffed right off with a towel, but it's really
annoying). Zymol does ~ok~ with metalic paint jobs, but it's really
ability is shown on solid, hard to keep up colors, like RED and BLACK.
