Don't know what happened to the first copy of this info I sent this
morning, but here is another question along the same lines, so I'll
repeat my story.

Anyway, my first upgrade to the truck was to fit a set of
buckets with adjustable lumbar support and kidney wings that would
hold me in place. I found a set a Mazda-Honda junkyard from a late
80's 626 - MX6, I think, the front end and dash were gone. They cost
me $125 for the pair, there is a bass-booster under the passenger seat
that I managed to hook into my stereo, and I even squeezed an Iron-Horse
arm-rest console between them when I bolted them to the floor. The SR5
buckets I've seen at the Toy specialty yards are $600 a pair, and are
too wide for the console to fit between. But the Toy seats may fit without
having to drill new holes in the floor, not a big deal.

PS - my buckets do have headrests, but they are not well padded. They
are lightly padded ring-shaped things that you can see through. I like
the fact that I can see through them, and they don't make a big blind
spot, but I miss the padded headrest from my Acura that I could lean my
head back on while going down the road. Of course, the way my truck
bounces down the road, the headrests would have to be pillows to be
comfortable. Mine will stop my head before it hits the window in case of
an accident.

By the way, the Mazda seats I bought had the brackets with them.
I just drilled four holes for each seat, and they went in fine.
The trick is find seats that are low enough while on their brackets.
It is nice to be able to move the seats forward and backward after
they are bolted down. Be sure to check under the cab for fuel lines,
etc before you drill mounting holes. I used 3/8" bolts with big fender
washers and nylock nuts underneath, so they don't pull through the floor.

I have leather seats out of a conquest. They are supportive, but a little
stiff for long rides. They are excellent on the trail. The two front
mounts mount the same, but new holes are need in the back.
