Anybody done the 3.0 V6 timing belt replacement and have
any special tips to offer? Also, about how long should it
take me to do it?
I'm guessing I may need to pull the radiator to access all the
belts and get to the timing cover........ any info appreciated.

Yes, I did this about one year ago this month when I had the blown head
gasket problem and again in June because of a stretched belt. The first
thing is to get a belt from someone you know. I bought one from an import
car parts store along with Continental accessory belts (really good btw). I
thought the timing belt would be of high quality due to the fact that this
depot carried Bosch, etc. Wrong, it stretched out and was loose and
popping. Luckily I had changed the oil and was letting it idle to check
for leaks and I heard it. wasn't sure at first what it was but with one of
those engine stethoscopes I knew it was the belt.
Removing the radiator is not mandatory but really helpful so you don't get
fin cuts or slip and smash it. You might also have to get an impact wrench
to get the crank pulley bolt off. I had to do this the first time-it was
TIGHT. While you're down there replace all the upper and lower idlers and
the spring for the lower. Just some insurance. Aligning the cam pulleys can
be challenging. before you take off the belt, place crank at TDC and finely
mark the rear timing cover with the pulley. They are marked with paint from
the factory but the paint stroke is wider than a tooth on the pulley
sprocket. Other than that it's a piece of cake. Could definately be done in
the field in an emergency if the crank bolt isn't at 3000lbs torque. Hope
this helps.
