A few us on the list that went to pismo this last weekend,
including Scott, Ken, Eric and others. The challange of the
day was the creek crossing. Some people just spent the day
haning out at the creek watching others crossing. The creek
was only about 3/4 of the tire deep at the shallow end but
about 3' deep in sections. I felt the need to find the deep parts
to test the new "AJ" snorkel.
There were a bunch of people on the side of the creek saying I
was a fool, I was the only person to drive down the creek out
to the ocean! The tow truck guy started up his truck and drove
to where I was entering the creek as I was going in at the deepest
pont and everyone else crossed at the shallow place. I started
somthing there and othes followed me across at the deep point.
2 trucks tryed but did not make it (including Scott), I pulled them
both across. We all had a great time sitting around and playing
in the creek
Later that day I got stuck my self in the shallow end. I forgot to
shift into 4WD before going in and could not get going again
Scott gave me a quick yank to get me going again. Thanks Scott!
The sand it self was a little soft but lots of fun. Due to pismo
being closed for the last month there had been very little traffic
on the sand.
Each trip you learing somthing new and this trip was no different
After pulling some guy I did not know out of the creek (driving a
jeep) a ranger drove over and said I was breaking the soliciting
laws! I could not believe it! It is now illigeal to help people!
Scott and I went and talked to this guys supervisor about what
had happend and got some more info on the enforcement they
are planning to do. They said it is against the law now to offer
to help someone that is stuck anywhere in the park unless the
person is part of your group or you know the person. If someone
asks you for help you can help them but if they see you drive over
to help someone they are going to give you a warning and ask
you to stop helping. Next I suppose they will give a ticket. What's
next ticketts for picking up litter? These rangers have gone way to
far in my book and need to be put back in line with helping
people, not getting in our way.
Other than that we had a great time!

Hey! I made it the first time! and the only reason I got stuck the
second time, was I fell in that whole the stuck Chevy made. :-)

What Chris said about the enforcment of the soliciting law as Pismo is
accurate. Can you believe it?
Anyway...bottom line for any of you that may venture to Pismo from time
to time is ...You CANNOT offer help to those you do not know. IF you
are asked by the person in need for help, for assistance...then it is up
to you if you want to help them or not, but if they don't ask you for
help FIRST, you're breaking the law.
We were REALLY curious to what the letter of the law said, so we went to
the ranger station, and spoke with the supervisor, Ranger Ortiz (who is
a pretty nice guy, BTW). He showed us the law in print, and then bottom
lined it for us.
